Otaki Youth Space!

On Wednesday the Kapiti council came to our class to do a workshop. What they did was different Activities to see what we would like for a Youth Space in Otaki.

There were about 6 or 7 activities that we did in rotations.

Questions!

What would it include?

I think it would include different Activities. Maybe some games for the younger people. I think it could also have 1 or 2 iPad's and if you were going to go on them you could have a certain amount of time.

Where would it be?

I would say it could be somewhere nice not in the town but somewhere where it would be nice outside and room for lots of outside Activities.

What sort of space would you you want it to be?

I would want it to be a Space where everyone would feel welcome.

I hope the youth space in Otaki will be a fun place where kids can hangout after school or a place where older people can hang out with there friends. It will also welcome everyone to join in with the fun!

Here are some photos from when they came to our class:

Horticulture Block Gardening

 We have been Gardening.

The jobs that I did were: Soil Testing, Raking the Mulch and Pulling out weeds.

We did it to fix up the Gardens again and we helped out a man called Mike who was in charge of it.

It was fun and we did it on Tuesdays.

Here are some Photos.

My Tapa Art.

Week 7 was Tongan language week, to celebrate it we made Tapa art.

What we used was: Brown Paper, Vivid, Dye.

The steps we did:

1. We researched the internet to find Tapa art inspirations.

2. We then sketched our designs out on the paper.

3. After we made our final designs and put Black and brown vivid on them.

4. We scrunched our Art to make the paper softer for the dye so it could stay on.

5. In week 8 we got dye and dyed the Tapa art. The colours we used were Brown, Yellow, Red, Ochre and  Vermilion.

Here is mine!

Fractions, Decimals and percentages. By Sammy!

In lockdown we have been doing FDP (Fractions, Decimals and Percentages) in maths.

So far we have only gotten up to doing Fractions. There are 3 areas that we do in the Fractions work. 1st is Learn where we watch a video, do Education Perfect, An activity and then 3 quizzes.

2nd is Create where we do what different fractions might look like and Fractions in real life and how to show how to do some maths questions.

3rd is sharing our work onto Blogger which is this.

I quite enjoyed doing the Fractions because they were really fun.
